The latest Wine of the Week is…
Calusari, Pinot Noir, Romania 2010 £5.95
This is a smooth pinot with plenty of flavour including berry fruit on the palate. Not too heavy and with a velvety finish, Calusari is a good wine to accompany game or spicy foods.
The Calusari, an historical Romanian fraternal sect, were believed to be able to cure the victims of fairies, with their magical flying dance called the Calus.
Martin’s comment: “Calusari is a lovely wine and good value for this price point. Being a screw top it’s a good mid week wine. Because Romania and other countries in this region don’t have such a widespread reputation as yet, you get more for your money, so well worth a try.”

This week the Friday One Meal Menu is our delicious Chicken Curry, with Basmati Rice & Poppadoms. To accompany this we have a range of cold lagers including Cobra and a range of chilled white wines.
Please book and let us know if you prefer the club table where you can meet other locals, or your own table.
Last night we had a special menu. A fabulous starter of Smoked Trout on a bed of rocket with horse radish creme fraiche, which was supplied by Olly & Shara Routledge from their farm in Scotland. www.moffatwaterfoods.com. This was followed by a delicious Cafe Chilli on baked potato & salad.
We had 20+ customers who enjoyed the special meal, with only one complaint – did we really have to close at 10.30pm!
